Faith Victory Association (FVA) is dedicated to providing orphans, women, and minors a safe haven, training, schooling, and opportunities since 2003. Their mission is to facilitate processes that break the cycle of poverty, reduce HIV infections, combat domestic violence and help communities build programs to distribute resources to Rwandese. This will enable them to create a prosperous society of peace, reconciliation, care, and well being for all persons.
Chickens for Change
One of the main projects GVN Foundation supports in Rwanda is the Chickens for Change project. Each new chicken owner working with our partner project in Rwanda receives training on how to care for chickens, a small supply of feed and adequate housing for the chickens - not too mention a few "Chicken Littles" of their own. Chickens provide a source of nutrition and fertiliser for crops, generate income, and act as a 2-legged savings scheme for the family.
A chicken costs roughly $13 - $14, but each chicken has the potential to multiple into a great income earner for the family, as well as improving nutrition along the way.
Noon Meal Nutrition Program
FVA runs a Noon Meal Nutrition Program to vulnerable children in the area. This program provides the children in their care with at least one meal each day. This meal creates a better learning environment, enables the children to participate more actively in the centre’s education and improves the children's level of nutrition and overall health.
It costs approximately $133 to provide a child with one meal a day for a year through this program.
